FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why were my shares transferred to IEPF?

Under the Companies Act, 2013, dividends unpaid or unclaimed for seven consecutive years, and the shares on which they were unclaimed, are transferred to the IEPF Authority.

How do I claim them back?

By filing Form IEPF-5 online and sending the signed form, acknowledgement, indemnity bond and other documents to the company’s Nodal Officer. After the company verifies the claim, the IEPF Authority credits the shares to your demat account and the amount to your bank account (IEPF FAQs).

Do I need a demat account?

Yes, shares are credited back only in demat form, so you need an active demat account in the claimant’s name.

How long does it take?

It depends on the company’s verification and the IEPF Authority’s processing. We cannot promise a timeline, but we keep you updated at each stage.

Can I file it myself?

Yes. Form IEPF-5 is filed online by the claimant. We assist if you want help with the documents and follow-up.
