AD Code Registration on ICEGATE
Before you can file a shipping bill, your bank’s Authorised Dealer (AD) Code must be registered against your IEC with Indian Customs. We assist with the bank letter, the e-Sanchit upload and the ICEGATE request.
Register once, use at all ports. Since June 2022, an AD Code registered at one Customs location is available at all Customs locations.
- Bank’s AD Code authorisation letter
- Cancelled cheque or bank-endorsed statement
- Online request in your ICEGATE login
AD Code and export bank account support
Customs decides each request. We help you get the paperwork right first time.
1ICEGATE registration
We help set up or check your ICEGATE login linked to your IEC, which is needed to request AD Code registration online. We give you the authority-letter format to print on your letterhead and have signed by the proprietor, partners or directors.
2Bank authorisation letter
We tell you exactly what your bank’s AD Code authorisation letter should contain, as listed in CBIC’s instruction, so it is not sent back.
3e-Sanchit upload
We upload the bank letter and a cancelled cheque (or bank-endorsed statement) on e-Sanchit with your DSC and raise the AD Code request on ICEGATE.
4IGST refund and drawback account
Your bank account for IGST refunds and drawback is registered separately on ICEGATE. We help with that request too, and with changes when you switch banks.
5Tracking and corrections
We follow the request until Customs approves it and help fix any query raised by the Customs officer.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AD Code?
A code issued by your bank (an Authorised Dealer in foreign exchange) that links your export shipments and foreign remittances to your bank account.
Do I need to register it at every port?
No. Under CBIC’s systems advisory of 14 June 2022, an AD Code registered at one port is available at all Customs locations. Changes are made at the port where it was registered.
What documents are needed?
The bank’s authorisation letter with the details CBIC requires, and a cancelled cheque or a bank-endorsed bank statement, uploaded on e-Sanchit with a digital signature (ICEGATE advisory).
I am a new exporter. What comes first?
Usually the IEC from DGFT, then ICEGATE registration, then the AD Code. We send one checklist covering all three and handle them in order.
Can I do it myself?
Yes. The request is made online in your own ICEGATE login. We assist if you prefer help with the documents and follow-up.
M. S. Advisory Services is a private advisory firm and is not affiliated with any government body. AD Code registration is approved by Indian Customs. Our fee is for professional assistance only.
